SALE STOPPED: Elders Riverina network has failed in its attempt to host a Jerilderie sheep sheep planned for next Friday, June 24.

The sale, the first planned in Riverina since January, was hopeful of assembling a yard of 5000 head but a skiff of recent rain and a sniff of more next week has the few likely sellers prepared to hold Elders Jerilderie manager, Nick Gray said.

“There has just been enough rain to grow some confidence” Mr Gray said. “It is still fairly dire through these parts which has meant most sheep normally marked as surplus are long gone”.

Elders, Ron Rutledge said the extent of the prolonged dry would be adversely measured at the marking yards where lambs marked to ewes scanned are expected to be significantly lower.
