The experience of wining the 2017 ALPA Fairfax Media Agency award motivated Simone Dand, Elders Adelaide, to work at providing quality and relevant training for people working in the agency and agricultural sector.
Ms Dand said she entered the award not really knowing what to expect but found the experience to be both enjoyable and rewarding.
“Putting the entry together was a great way to reflect on my achievements in the industry,” she said.
“Being awarded the Mike Nixon shield has opened doors for me in terms of networking with others in the agency and media industries which will enable me to continue to enhance and promote the Elders traineeship program and career opportunities.
“To be recognised for something that you love doing and are passionate about is very rewarding.”
Ms Dand said the media promotion around the award had provided a conversation starter for me with many in the industry but also with people with little knowledge or understanding of agency.
“ I believe this helps to further promote awareness of the agricultural and agency industries, in particular the many career opportunities they provide,” she said.
“The opportunity to take part in the Western Canada tour and see the Calgary Stampede is a once in a lifetime experience and I am looking forward to returning with many great memories as well as an insight into the international agency industry.
“I would encourage anyone who is considering entering the ALPA Fairfax Media Agency award to give it a go, there’s nothing to lose and much to gain from the experience,” she said.
