An investigation is underway into the theft of 30 sheep, from the Shepparton saleyards.

Shepparton detectives are investigating the theft of a ewe and lambs, from the town’s saleyard, on Friday.

It is believed a tray truck with a homemade stock crate arrived at the New Dookie Road saleyards, just after 1am on May 18.

The truck was then loaded with 29 lambs and a ewe and left the area, just after 2am.

Detectives said the truck was described as an Isuzu single rear axle tray.

Its passenger side headlight was not working.
