North East Victorian livestock producers have been invited to learn more about key animal health issues and biosecurity tools.
The event, to be held in Myrtleford, will be delivered by producer-led project Livestock Health & Biosecurity VICTORIA and will include presentations from the Integrity Systems Company (ISC).
ISC will provide information on how to prepare for a Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) program audit, helping producers feel comfortable in meeting their requirements.
Veterinarian Dr Patrick Kluver will outline the most common local livestock diseases to look out for, over winter.
“Events like this provide a good opportunity for producers to put their questions directly to presenters and also discuss with other producers about what works for them,” Dr Kluver said.
“It is important that producers understand and get ahead of the winter conditions to reduce the risk of disease in their stock.
“Prevention is the greatest tool in any disease management arsenal,” he said.
Other topics will include getting carcass feedback through Meat & Livestock Australia’s new Livestock Data Link, streamlining paperwork with electronic National Vendor Declarations and the cost of calf scours in beef enterprises.
Held at the local footy club, the event will start at 9.30am on Monday, May 28.
