REVERSIBLE ploughs, directly mounted on the tractor, use the tractors hydraulics to turn at the end of the furrow, enabling the next pass to be made against the previous strip.
This is particularly useful for hard, dry conditions or heavy plant residual.
Due to increasing demand for the technology in Australia, European manufacturer Amazone has launched new models and upgrades of the Vogel and Noot range through distributor Claas Harvest Centre.
A Claas Harvest Centre spokesperson said while the M series had previously only comprised of three or four furrow ploughs, suitable for tractors up to 90 kilowatts (120 horsepower), a new release in 2018 was a two furrow model.
This model is particularly aimed at smaller acreage and use with lower power range tractors.
For medium size operations, the XM, XMS and XS series are manufactured with stronger components, suitable for tractors between 105 to 195 kW (140 to 260 hp).
The XM and XMS three-furrow models are available with a choice of either mechanical, stepped furrow width adjustment or a hydraulic, step-less working width adjustment.
Models in Amazone’s top-end range, Cayros XS Pro, are capable of ploughing four or six furrows.
Both the standard XS and the XS Pro were also upgraded for 2018, with the addition of a non-stop hydraulic stone release system and mechanically-adjustable furrow width.
“The NonStop system automatically adjusts the release force via a tractor spool valve allowing the plough comfortably and easily adapt to changing soil conditions,” the spokesperson said.
Previous models were only fitted with stone release with hydraulic width adjustment.
