FOLLOWING 17 years of hard work, Tamaroo Angus stud has recorded one of its best ever sale results, at its on-property bull sale at Cygnet, Tasmania.
Offering 17 bulls, the stud sold all but two, and recorded an average price of $6250, which is up $2250 on last year’s $4000 average.
The sale topped at $11,500, for Lot 2, the heaviest bull of the draft, who was purchased by Bill Aldridge, Roberts, on behalf of first-time buyers Ross, Shane and Corey Hine, ‘WR&E Hine’, Marrawah, Tas, who bought three bulls in total, av $9334.
Currently running 350 Angus breeders, and looking to lift numbers significantly, Shane Hine said the temperament, stretch and depth of the bulls was ideal.
“Our agent did a fair bit of research ahead of the sale, and was really taken with the Tamaroo bulls, their style and docility,” Mr Hine said.
“Our agent really liked the top bull’s depth and length, and all round structure.”
Volume buyers included John and Heather Drysdale, Yarck, who bought three, av $4834, ‘Surveyors Bay’, Police Point, Tas, who bought two, av $7500, and ‘Boxhill Pasture Co’, Yea, who bought two, av $4500.
Tamaroo principal Adam Harvey said he was extremely pleased with the sale.
“After 17 years of breeding quality bulls, it’s a great feeling to see all the hard work pay off,” Mr Harvey said.
“With a fantastic line of females, people are starting to trust the Tamaroo brand.”
