The McDonald’s fast food chain estimates it will use more than 280 tonnes of Wagyu beef from Queensland to supply what it claims is the world’s first 100 per cent Wagyu burger.

The burger was launched today at 10.30am and will be served nationwide while stocks last.
The introduction of the Wagyu Beef Burger has given Macca’s the opportunity to source from a new stream of Aussie farmers, with all the beef being sourced entirely from Australia.
Australian Wagyu Association chief executive officer Matt McDonagh said Wagyu producers were delighted with the initiative.
“(This) brings a brand new beef eating experience to their customers by using the world’s best-tasting tender beef,” he said.
“We look forward to hearing how Australians respond to this new addition to McDonald’s menu.”
McDonald’s Australia chief marketing officer, Jenni Dill said it was exciting for the company to serve up a burger that centred on 100pc Australian-bred Wagyu beef.
“I love the taste of this newest addition to our menu, and am sure our customers will too. But they’ll need to get in quick before we sell out,” she said.
McDonald's Australia director of supply chain Robert Sexton said the launch was further testament to McDonalds’ commitment to use local suppliers.
“We estimate that while this burger is on our menu, we’ll purchase more than 280 metric tonnes of Wagyu beef from Queensland,” he said.
