A FRESHWATER crocodile was found being held captive in a fish tank when police searched a Burdekin property last week.
Native animals, including the small croc and three snakes were found during the drug bust at a house on Phillips Street in Ayr on Thursday.
Police will allege that they located a quantity of MDMA tablets, three snakes, including two coastal carpet pythons and an albino Darwin python, and a small freshwater crocodile in tanks at the rear of the property.
Arrangements have been made for the care of the animals in consultation with Wildlife officers.
A 27-year-old Ayr man was charged with three counts of keep native wildlife whilst not an authorised person and one count of possession of a dangerous drug.
He is scheduled to appear in the Ayr Magistrates Court on April 18.
