Charters Towers combined agents yarded a total of 1124 cattle on March 14 consisting of 968 prime cattle and 156 store cattle.
The yarding was drawn from Belyando, Hughenden, Greenvale, Theodore, Croydon, local and coastal areas.
Prime cattle comprised of very good lines of crossbred bullocks from the Belyando district while the prime cows were limited in total with lines of plainer cows yarded.
Bullocks were 15-20c dearer, heifers were 9-12c dearer, cows were 9-15c dearer and bulls were 2-5c dearer on the sale on February 21.

Bullocks topped at 284.2c/kg for 15 No.6 crossbred bullocks sold by Mt Douglas Pastoral Co, Mt Douglas, Clermont that weighed 541kg to return $1538.
Best priced trade heifers were presented on a/c CJ & KA Toohey, Runaway Plains, Woodstock that sold for 243.2c and weighed 475kg to return $1155.
The top pen of cows were sold by CJ & KA Toohey, Runaway Plains, Woodstock weighing 600kg and returned $1339. Bulls sold by Mt Douglas Pastoral Co, Mt Douglas, Clermont, topped at 265.2c and weighed 500kg to return $1326.

Store cattle were very limited in numbers however, weaner steers sold to 332.2c and heifers to 248.2c. A pen of 4 steers from Marsh Bott, Charters Towers made 338.2c and weighed 262kg, returning an average of $887.
A good pen of heifers from S & H Ellems, Majors Creek, Woodstock weighed 220kg and returned an average of $546. 15 x 16 cows and calves sold by MI McClymont, Mt Sturgeon, Hughenden returned $410 per unit.
