John Smith from “Glenayr”, Woodenbong, on the NSW North Coast had wanted to come to the Wodonga Angus weaner sales for 20 years.
So, finally, this year he made it with wife, Maree.
“I had been told Wodonga was the place to come to see top Angus weaners,” he said at the opening sales of this year’s series at the Barnawartha selling complex today.
They sell their mainly Hereford prime cattle at the Casino saleyards and often buy replacement weaners at the annual Stanthorpe sales in southern Qld.

The former dairyfarmers run 1500 breeding cattle on an aggregation of 3600 hectares (9000 acres).
They have bought 11 adjoining properties over the years and are now enjoying their best season in living memory.
“I have three tractors and slashers working back home,” he said.
A lot of farmers in parched areas of the State would like to have the same problem.
