Sellers offering store cattle at Ballarat’s monthly market, who battled thunderstorms, wet weather and a declining prime market, were rewarded with a solid, firm to easier trend on Friday.
Fielding an outstanding display of 3500 steers, heifers and cows and cows in the November sale, the prices received saw heavy steer sales top at $1640 a head, feeder steers average 314c/kg while heifers were mostly traded in a 280-320c/kg price range.
Sales of cows and calf units made to a one-off, $3050 for a special Shorthorn re-depastured outfit while most others, with mostly spring-born calves and not rejoined, accrued sales between $1700 and $2500 per each outfit.
