JALAWAY Belted Galloway Beef, Willow Grove, has taken out supreme Belted Galloway exhibit, at this year’s Royal Melbourne Show.
The 16 month-old heifer beat the two year-old champion bull, from Pine Gully Park Belted Galloway stud, Yallourn North.
Judge Aimee Bolton, Bolton Girls Red Angus stud, Shepparton, said she was extremely happy with both champion exhibits.
“The bull, he’s got everything I’m looking for in a bull, he’s got that thickness and depth of body and constitution,” Ms Bolton said.
“And the heifer, she’s the same, she’s really clean right through the front end, and really feminine.
“But I had to give it to the heifer, she just walks a bit more freely on her legs, and that’s what got her over the edge.”
Jalaway owner Ali Hilli said the heifer would be retained in the stud.
“Her mother gave me nine bulls in a row, and this is only the second heifer we’ve got from her,” Ms Hilli said.
“She’s a great example of the breed.”
