Supreme champion: Sweetfield Corriedale stud, Mount Moriac
Champion Corriedale ram: Sweetfield
Champion Corriedale ewe: Gambier Corriedale stud, Derrinallum
TEN years since winning their last supreme championship at Bendigo, Sweetfield Corriedales stud, Mount Moriac, took out the title today.
Stud principal Bron Ellis said she was delighted with the win.
“He’s got a beautiful, soft fleece, with good character,” Ms Ellis said.
“And he’s structurally correct and got a tremendous carcase.”
And judges Darryl MacDonald, Porcupine Ridge, and Chris Kemp, Merriwa, NSW, agreed.
“He’s got beautiful Corriedale features; his wool is the correct colour, and has plenty of character,” Mr MacDonald said.
“He’s a big-barrelled sheep that stands beautifully on his feet.”
The grand champion ewe was won by Milton Savage, Gambier View Corriedale stud, Derrinallum.
“The ewe had a heavy-cutting fleece, was structurally correct, and had a good top line,” Mr Kemp said.
