Rosewhite is in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, which is where WN McDonald & Sons have their property.
On Thursday, January 5, the McDonald family will sell 100 Angus steers through Elders Albury in the annual Wodonga feature calf sale.
David and Robyn McDonald run a closed herd, and only buy in bulls when needed. Currently using Jarobee and Blackmore Angus bulls, the steers to be sold are 7-9 months of age.
EU accreditation is becoming more important as our overseas exports continue to rise, and the McDonalds have been accredited for many years.
Mr and Mrs McDondald invite you in for a cup of tea or coffee at this time of year, when photos are taken and they’re happy to explain how they breed their cattle and how the season has treated them.
As can be seen by the photo, there is heaps of grass, which will stand the steers well prior to sale day. Elders Myrtleford agent, Stephen Street, said the McDonald steers are slightly smaller than some other vendors, but will still weigh around 290-350 kilograms live weight on sale day.
Because of the EU accreditation, the buying field opens up, and with fewer EU cattle offered in 2017, the potential is great. Look for these steers in the Elders pens, sale time is 10.30am.
