A minute of silence was observed at the Wycheproof sheep sale Friday as a mark of respect for Nullawil stock agent Brendan (Joe) Hogan who died on November 19, aged 73.
A decorated sportsman in his day, Mr Hogan served as an Elders commission agent for 38 years operating under the watchful eye of Kevin Thompson, Jim Coffey and the staff at the Elders Wycheproof branch.
Joe’s attention to detail was second to none. He was visionary and influential in introducing a number of families to farm feedlotting making them resilient when times so often turned dry in the southern Mallee area.
He was an outstanding judge of livestock and was always known to focus on quality making his clients’ stock highly sought-after.
