There was almost no change to the Eastern Young Cattle Indicator, closing the week at 713¢/kg cwt.

However, some early signs at the saleyard that supply could be on the increase may see some price movement as we approach the end of September.

East coast cattle throughput lifted 11.6 per cent on the week, with 38,602 head through the saleyard.

The various indicators were mostly flat or marginally higher on the week.

Medium steers were the leader of the pack, posting a 6 per cent increase to close at 349.9¢/kg lwt.

Medium steers pushed higher by a solid performance in Queensland, up 5.7 per cent to 351¢/kg lwt and NSW, up 5.6 per cent to 355¢/kg lwt. Victoria dragged the chain with medium steers, softer by 2.7 per cent, posting 350¢/kg lwt.
