Consecutive weeks of declining yarding numbers in Queensland have dragged down east coast throughput, resulting in the EYCI finishing 2.75¢ lower on the week at 705¢/kg cwt.
East coast throughput of 40,686 head was at the bottom end of the normal seasonal range, and 16.3 per cent below the five-year average for this time of year.
The decline in east coast yarding figures was mainly triggered by falls in Queensland, which recorded a 29.7 per cent decline in yardings from last week.
In contrast, east coast slaughter experienced a lift in numbers, with 119,558 head recorded for the week.
Numbers for the season are still 18.7 per cent below the five-year average levels for this time of year, indicative of ongoing tight supply this season keeping prices broadly supported.
