Junior competitors vying for a ticket to the National Shearer and Wool Handler Championships has seen a spurt of entries at the preliminary event in Bendigo.

Australian Sheep & Wool Show shearing events have a full card of participants with more than 80 shearers and 35 wool handlers entered across the two days.
Featuring both blade shearing and wool handling, beginners can enjoy expert tuition on day one.
Training workshops will take place on Friday, following by the Northern Shears Association highly competitive open competition on Saturday.
On day two see the best shearers and wool handlers compete, with the excitement of state championships on day three.

Rasmussen family of Goornong, Vic, will supply 350 Merinos wethers to be shorn by open shear competitors.
