The EYCI continues its bull run into record-breaking territory, with another solid 3.5 per cent gain this week to close at 641¢/kg cwt.
This was aided by good price gains in Queensland saleyards on the back of low supply and steady east coast rainfall. Throughput for the east coast trending lower on the week and tracking 26.5 per cent below the five-year average at 35,527 head.
The sharp decline in Queensland yarding figures, showing a 52.5 per cent decline in throughput on the week to see 7,174 head reported. Yarding figures haven’t been in the 7,000 region in Queensland during this time of year since June 2005. Indeed, the five-year average for this week in the season is 17,419 head.
The strengthening A$ back above 75US¢ has seen the 90CL frozen cow indicator fall from 603.1¢ to 599.3¢.
