CATTLE values returned from the highs of last month at the Ballarat store sale last week, with heavy steers falling 5-8 cents a kilogram.
"We had an exceptional sale here last month, but we were still very happy with the way things turned out today," Leo White, TB White and Sons, said.
While there was a noted absence from northern buyers, competition was strong from south-east South Australia and local areas.
He quoted grown steers from 180-190c/kg, while the best of the heavy weaners sold in the 190-200c/kg price bracket or 5-10c/kg cheaper.
"Smaller light cattle, anything under 300 kilograms, whether they were steers or heifers, sold exceptionally well," he said.
