DARETON police are investigating the savage mauling of 19 sheep in the township on Saturday morning.
Seventeen of the sheep were so badly injured that they had to be put down.
The sheep belonged to hobby farmer Glen Norris and the attack took place on his Jacaranda Drive property.
Mr Norris said his young family was devastated.
“We’ve been here with sheep for three years and we’ve never had a dog attack or anything like this,” he said.
“There was blood and wool everywhere, it’s torn them apart.
“It wasn’t very pleasant at all.
“We had 19 sheep in the yard and had to put down 17.
“We’ve got three young kids and it’s heartbreaking for them.
“Two sheep survived, but whether they survive long-term is another thing.
“We haven’t noticed dogs in the past, just the neighbours and they’re all pretty good pets.
“It’s out of the blue.”
