The long-term Injemira focus on carcase yield and carcase quality paid off for the Greening family at the 47th annual Injmeira Beef Genetics Production Sale on property at Kiloran, Book Book, NSW.
With 100 Poll Hereford bulls on offer, 93 sold for a $9182 average.
It was outcross genetics that dominated the 2018 sale following the Allendale Anzac revolution of recent years.
Long term supporter Sam Becker of Jarrah Cattle Company, Banana, returned to buy the top price bull in 2018 paying $50,000 for Injemira Fortune M152.
The son of outcross US sire EFBEEF U208 Fortune Y848 who had been used in the Injemira Spring 2017 Artificial Insemination program with further semen retained, will join the Jarrah herd after having further semen collected.
Mr Becker selected Fortume M152 for his “size and outcross genetics combined with the fact the his dam goes back to Injemira Happy Day D053”.
Mr Becker commended the tremendous carcase of the Injemira sale draft from start to finish “the consistency and performance you get from Injemira breeds on”.
“Herefords now have the carcase yield that when combined with their eating quality should put them at the forefront of the industry under the new value based marketing systems”.
The demand for outcross genetics continued with return customers David and Michelle Elsom, Macarthur, paid $28,000 for Injemira Redford J006 M122.
Mr Elsom selected the sire for “eye muscle area, good figures and structural correctness”.
Running 260 Hereford breeders Mr Elsom is using Injemira genetics to keep improving his herd while producing progeny that can meet a range of markets.
Another Injemira Redford J006 son made the third top money of $23,000 in Injemira Redford J006 M012 selling to Cam and Carol Emerson, Alva Downs, Drysdale.
Volume buyer Woakwine Station, Beachport, selected seven bulls paying to a top of $12,000 on two occasions for Injemira Anzac J199 sons and averaging $8143 across their draft.
Billabong Beef, Forest Vale, Holbrook, gathered a draft of five bulls for an average of $6200 paying to a top of $8000. Belgrave Pastoral Company, Mumbannar, purchased five bulls for a $5000 average topping at $6000.
Injmeria principal Marc Greening thanked the strong support from return clientele that was blended with a number of new buyers.
