TWO major flock dispersals ensured the quality of the yarding of around 40,000 sheep at Deniliquin last Friday was the best witnessed at the centre for a long time.
Agents were thrilled with the quality of the yarding overall and the prices achieved, with a large crowd of buyers coming from across southern and eastern Riverina, the Central West of NSW, the Wimmera and northern and central Victoria.
Among the highlights of the day were the Somerset flock being dispersed by D.B. Millthorpe and Son, Jerilderie, with a total of 1197 ewes yarded selling to $306 and averaging $261.
Emu Park Pastoral Co’s flock dispersal saw 2468 head sell to a top of $278 and the scanned in lamb ewes from 2013 to 2016 average $252.
Forwarded by Joyce McConnell and the McDonald family, the dispersal was the result of the sale of the property.
The sheep were Glen Emu blood and Emu Park breed.
Another major vendor was the Holt family’s Coonong Station, Urana, NSW, Dohne ewes.
Tops of the June-July 2015 drop ewes, scanned in lamb to multiples, was $270 for a line of 523.
