The official numbers are in and the WVLX will offer almost 2500 cattle in its first prime market being held Monday at its new Mortlake saleyards.

WVLX manager Tim Nowell said the large number, which comprise 45 bulls, 912 bullocks and 644 cows, has far exceeded the company's expectation.

Mr Nowell said that despite recent events, which involved the arrest overseas of one of the WVLX directors on an alleged suspicion of drug trafficking, staff morale and team spirit remains high in anticipation of their first Prime Market on Monday 22 January.

“With yesterday’s shock is behind us, we remain focused on ensuring a successful first sale in three days time, he said Friday.

“We’ve had all hands on deck this morning, running cattle through the facility and everyone is really focused and enthusiastic ahead of Monday”.

“With the draw completed we were hopeful of processing a yarding of around 1000 plus cattle so the large is a fantastic commitment and vote of confidence for WVLX by the regions farmers and our foundation agents”.

Monday’s prime market starts at 9 am after an official opening at 8.30 am and a charity auction in the new special selling ring.
