Victorian grain deliveries are still trickling across the western districts as persistent showers delays the final stages of the state’s grain harvest.
Although rainfall totals have been modest, it’s been enough to slow the last of the harvest. GrainCorp has taken upwards of 80,000 tonnes of grain in half of January, included 34,000 tonnes in the past week.
This has lifted total grain deliveries for the 2017/18 harvest to 2.94 million tonnes.
Victorian grain prices still firmed with the growing uncertainty over the prospects of the northern sorghum crop last week, ignoring the softer tone in overseas markets.
APW prices jumped by $10 to $265 delivered into Melbourne in the past week while F1 feed barley was $5 higher at $253.
