Border Leicester Merino-cross ewes sold at the Kyneton annual sale on Friday continued recent price trends reaching a top price of $336 for joined ewes.
For the first time long-time vendors, Don and Geoff Younger, Morundah, NSW, presented a big line-up of scanned-in-lamb ewes.
The tops of the June to July-16 drop ewes were bought by the Deane family, Nagambie, taking a run of 200 from the pen that were scanned as carrying multiples.
Elders Bendigo account the Mann family paid $295 for the balance of the top priced lot and then secured a second line of 100 Younger sheep for $296.
Another line of 170 Younger ewes sold to account McGrath Rodwells for $308.
Kieran McGrath of McGrath Rodwells Livestock said the Younger family would be offering 1900 1.5 year old ewes, unjoined, at the 2019 sale.
Younger’s 570 June/July drop ewe lambs averaged $171.
Max and Elaine Robinson, Bunaloo, NSW, sold ewes to a top of $302.
Bulk buyers in the ewe lamb section came from East Gippsland buying through Graeme Fullgrabe of Sharp Fullgrabe, Bairnsdale.
They purchased 630 in total with the top price of $318 paid for 105 May-June 2017 drop, November shorn.
The line was sold account A. and K. Barri, Glenhope, and purchased by sale regulars Keith and Ann-Marie Davies, Gelantipy.
Lambs values ranged mainly from $200 to $275 with lighter types making $150 and $180.
