While most will be enjoying a well-earned break between Christmas and New Year, a frequently overlooked sale on Friday, December 29 is the Casterton sheep sale, offering 18,000 head this year.
Landmark’s Greg Bright says normal numbers of cast for age mutton should keep processor buyers entertained while a good representation of Composite and first-cross young ewes will form the basis of the store market penning.
A large percentage of these young ewes are well prepared, being mulesed and vaccinated, while 3000 store lambs should make an attractive investment for those seeking to supply the autumn lamb market.
The mutton sale will start at 9:30 am with the store market not beginning before 11.00 am.
