SHEEP Week will be returning for its second year in 2018, after a successful first year, and the event is expanding.
Stock & Land local sales representative Craig Davidson said the event will be expanding into New South Wales and South Australia in 2018.
It’s a great opportunity for them to share knowledge about their breed, genetics, and the day-to-day running of their business.

“Based on the feedback from this year, we saw the need to go further north into New South Wales, but to also include the south-east of South Australia,” Mr Davidson said.
“The inaugural event was a huge success, both from a participant point of view and a commercial sponsorship point of view, so we will be looking forward to this expanding next year.” The event will also be expanding from five days to nine days.
“The reason for running it across nine days is that we’re expecting participant numbers to increase given the event will be held across a wider geographic coverage area,” he said.
He said sheep studs enjoyed being able to open their gates to the public at the inaugural event, and providing insight into their operation.
“Like the renowned Stock & Land Beef Week, participants enjoyed the opportunity of opening their farm gates and interacting with like minded producers,” he said.
“It’s a great opportunity for them to share knowledge about their breed, genetics, and the day-to-day running of their business.
“It was a fairly good cross section of representative breeds, and it was roughly a 50/50 split between meat and wool growing businesses.” Next year’s event will be held across nine days, from June 18 – June 27 (excluding Saturday, June 23).
The official entry form will be available in Stock & Land, Stock Journal, and the southern run of The Land, on January 18, 2018.
Sheep studs can register either by fillig out the form and posting it to the supplied address, or by registering online from the same date.
Mr Davidson said he was really excited to already have two of this year’s advertising partners back on board for 2018. “Shearwell Australia has upped its commitment, and are proud naming right partners for 2018,” he said.
“Rural Bank has also come on board, and are really excited.”
