Grain quality across Victoria has suffered after the recent torrential rain, but many farmers appear to have avoided severe damage.
Wet weather also limited harvest progress, with farmers unable to get back into paddocks until late last week when soil dried out enough to support machinery.
The resumption of activity through the Southern Mallee and Wimmera showed wheat quality was still food grade.
The situation is worse through the north-east of the state, around Benalla and Wangaratta, where rainfall was heaviest. Samples are showing that quality has suffered with falling numbers down below 250.
Graincorp said 296,500 tonnes of grain were delivered into its Victorian storage network in the week to December 11, down from about half a million tonnes a week earlier.
