In that year, any money earned went straight back into buying feed, just to keep the herd in a nucleus.
As we well know, that old sale of “What goes around comes around, and this is one year, where quality breeding and good condition will attain the best possible price on the day.
Despite the condition of the Brooklyn steers that year, they still sold well for the breed, and well for their quality.

Tony always buys the best bulls, targeting 400-600 day growth rates as a premium. This shows in the results of any cattle they send for slaughter. Brooklyn cattle always get excellent carcass weight for their age.
Potential buyers need to consider these Hereford steers, because their high regard for producing quality beef.
Local bullock and steers fatteners know how well these steers perform. Given the very good season in the Mansfield district in 2017, the Brooklyn steers have had a very good start.
This puts them well on the way to producing a quality article at a future sale time.
Local Corcoran Parker agent, Daniel Craddock, said the very good season in his area will see a lot of quality steers and heifers offered at Wodonga this year.
Daniel hopes that rain continues to accumulate in the north, because that would be a game changer for this year’s sales.
