ESTJAM
*Total clearance of 43 Poll Dorset rams to $2100, av $851
ESTJAM Poll Dorset stud sold a ram for its highest ever price, at its seventh annual on-property sale at Woolsthorpe.
The stud offered 43 Poll Dorset rams, and sold the lot, to a top price of $2100, and an average price of $851.
The top-priced ram was purchased by Brian Gavin, ‘Morgina’, Wannon, who also purchased two flock rams.
The stud also sold a ram to its first interstate buyer.
Stud principal Esther Glasgow said she was able to offer a lot that had not been offered at the sale, to the underbidder of the top-priced ram, Andrew O’Neil, ‘Rosbrook Pastoral Co’, Toowoomba, Queensland.
“He was really upset that he missed out, so he called me that night and I asked if he would be interested in buying that ram,” Ms Glasgow said.
Volume buyers included Glen Rowe, Goroke, who purchased eight, new client Jodi Russell, who purchased four, Des Stuchbery, who bought eight, and Robbie and Georgia Greig, who bought seven.
Ms Glasgow said she was very pleased with the result.
“I am very proud of the stock that I was able to display on the day, having repeat clients assures me that I am heading in the right direction for my clients’ needs,” she said.
“Our rams also perform well in the commercial industry, with large percentages of Estjam sired lambs being sold straight off the mum.”
The sale was conducted by Southern Grampians Livestock.
