Glendemar Multi Purpose Merinos
*Total clearance of 130 rams to $12,000, av $2569
IT was a successful day for Glendemar MPM last Wednesday with a total clearance of 130 horned and polled rams at their annual on property sale at Marnoo with rams going to NSW, Vic, SA and WA.
This year Glendemar offered a further 10 rams for clients bidding and competition with all 10 selling to increase their average by over $620 on that of 2016’s average. With a quick fire of bidding the top lot of $12000 was found in Lot 96, a polled ram knocked down to Dean Trotter, Mt Barker, WA.
“This ram caught my eye with the way he stood. He is a goof looking sheep with a great wool type,” Mr Trotter said. “His ASBV figures are all right there where I want them. His yearling staple length is in the top one per cent (21.7).”
Mr Trotter also purchased the second top lot, Lot 69 for $8000. This polled ram pleased Mr Trotter with his figures and his overall completeness. “These two rams I have purchased are going to be a great influence on my flock. I saw them and wanted to take both of them home. To me they where the most complete sheep with great phenotype”. Mr Trotter purchased a total of four rams to average $7375.
There was plenty of volume buying on the day with repeat client Barooka Props, Kingston, SA, purchasing 20 rams to average $2125. “We have confidence in the ASBVs. We have been a client for 16+ years and we come back after seeing the benefits of easy care, high growth, fat, EMA and staple length in the rams and progeny.” Henry Goode said. Howard Frampton, Joel South, purchased 14 rams to average $1750. Mr Frampton has been buying from Glendemar for 50 years.
A total of 22 rams will make the journey across to Western Australia with Beau Valley Farming, Kendenup, purchasing nine rams to average $3083. “We have been repeat clients for 20 odd years and we return due to being impressed with the ASBVs which gives true breeding throughout the flock.” Brad Wood said.
Glendemar’s Ben Duxson said after the sale he was rapt with the result.
“A consistent result which shows the industry is in a good place,” Mr Duxson said. “I have never been more confident with the quality of the sheep and the ASBVs which is helping to move us forward, as our clients are thriving.”
“We see improvements every year with the ASBVs and the phenotype of the sheep, this bodes well for the feature as seen by the confidence of the buying power in today's sale which proved a very strong result for the Duxson Family,” Landmark auctioneer Andrew Sloane said
