AUSTRALIAN LOWLINES
Supreme exhibit: Rotherwood Australian Lowline stud, Cann River
Champion bull: Rotherwood
Reserve champion bull: O’Hara Lowlines, Windsor
Champion female: Rotherwood
Reserve champion female: Whitby Farm Lowlines, Zeerust
ROTHERWOOD has taken out supreme Australian Lowline exhibit at the Royal Melbourne Show.
The stud won both champion male and female, but took out supreme with its 17 month-old bull.
Stud principal Vicki Gilbert said the bull stood out as a calf.
“He just struts his stuff, he’s a beautiful sire, an outstanding male, with a beautiful backside and testicles,” Ms Gilbert said.
She said he would be shown at Canberra and Sydney again next year, but wouldn’t be sold for a while.
“We’ve collected semen from him, so we will be selling that,” she said.
Judge Ross Canning, Maverick and Mavstar Simmental stud, Mortlake, said the bull stood out because of his overall balance.
“He’s got great sire appeal, structure and balance,” Mr Canning said.
“Both the cow and the bull were very similar, with their thickness and balance, but the bull just took it that extra step.”
