A New South Wales Angus cow has taken the trifecta, by winning the section’s Supreme Exhibit rosette at the Royal Melbourne Show.
Pine Creek Angus, Cowra, took out the top prize at the Royal Easter Show and in Adelaide this year, with four year old Angus cow, PC Miss E99 Foreman J181.
Judge Craig Gapes, Kyogle, New South Wales said the cow had “that little bit of X factor.”
He chose Foreman over the Junior Champion bull, Killain Fort Worth M17.
“The cow got on top as she is a big high performance female,” Mr Gapes said.
“She has a cracking bull calf, at foot, she is sound and free.
“She is a credit to the breed and the beef industry – she is sound, has a great udder, length of body and just ticks all the boxes.
“She is just going to breed the house down.
Mr Gapes said Killian Fort Worth was still a worthy competitor, as Champion bull.
“The young black bull was just outstanding, he had that easy fleshing, easy doing ability, “
“He wasn’t a massive high growth bull, he just ticked all the boxes.”
Forth Worth weighed 660kilograms and had figures of a 95square centimetre eye muscle area (EMA), 16 millimetre rump fat and 10mm rib fat.
In Sydney, Miss E99 Foreman, and her calf PC Compliment, took out the Best Exhibit in the Angus ring and in Adelaide took out Senior and Grand Champion female.
Stud principal Greg Fuller said he believed the cow won on her ability, size, balance and beautiful udder.
Mr Gapes said the exhibitors turned out some “really consistent cattle.
“I overheard someone say that this was the best lineup of blacks they have seen at Melbourne, over the last couple of years, which was very pleasing,” Mr Gapes said.
