There is no better testament to this than the fact that the 160 bulls the Corrigan family catalogued for their spring 2017 bull sale averaged in the top five per cent for all four of the Angus breedplan market selection indices.
Held on property at “Ellerslie Park”, Culcairn, Rennylea sold 148 of the 150 bulls offered for a $9682 average.
Bulls topped at $38,000 for Rennylea M6 a son of Rennylea G317 who is fast proving himself a sire of particular demand.
Booroomooka Angus, Bingara, paid the top money a bull with estimated breeding values in the top one pc for intra muscular fat, scrotal size, days to calving, and all indicies.
Booroomooka also purchased a stable mate for M6 this time a HPCA Intensity 7102 son in Rennylea L519 for $36,000.
L519 was in the top one pc for 200 and 400 day weights and all indicies.
However the sire in demand was Rennylea G317 who sired the next two tops both at $24,000.
Waitara Angus, Trangie, purchased Rennylea M49 who was in the top one pc for scrotal size, days to calving, and all indicies.
Rennylea M27 was knocked down to Graman Pastoral Co, Graman, he was in the top one pc for scrotal size, days to calving, and Angus breeding and heavy grain indicies.
Amongst the volume purchasers Clear Spring Past Co, Holbrook, set the pace drafting eight bulls their way for an average price of $9313 paying to a top of $12,500.
Don McRae, McRae Pastoral Co, Goondiwindi, again sunk his teeth paying a top of $16,500 as he loaded seven bulls for a $13,143 average.
Craiglea Pastoral Co, Hobbys Yards, bought well to purchase seven bulls for a $7000 average paying a top of $9000 twice.
M A Sinclair, “Yamalola”, Greenthorpe, purchased five bulls for a $9600 average topping at $11,000 twice.
While Shadowgrove Pty Ltd, “Khancobin Station”, Khancobin, returned to purchase five also averaging $9600 and reaching a top of $12,000.
The sale was conducted by Landmark with Andrew Wishart and Peter Godbolt wielding the gavel.
