A FRONT is likely to move through Victoria late on Thursday, bringing a band of showers across the state, according to Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) senior forecaster Tom Delamotte.
“Falls will range from less than two millimetres in the north-west, to around 5-15mm through the southern and mountain districts,” Mr Delamotte said.
“The central district should see about 2-5mm, and it will be similar for the Wimmera, and then it grades down to less than 2mm as it moves north-west into the Mallee.”
He said showers are expected to clear quite quickly.
“For the western two-thirds of the state, by the time they wake up on Friday morning I’d say the showers would have cleared, and there’ll still be a few showers in the eastern districts on Friday morning, and that will ease fairly rapidly by Friday afternoon,” he said.
He said another front would hit the state on Saturday.
“This is the front that’s quite strong particularly over in Western Australian at the moment, and it’s going to drag down quite a bit of warm air,” he said.
“Saturday looks like it will be a mild to warm day for this time of year, we’re forecasting a maximum of 28 degrees in Mildura, and if that does happen, it will be the highest July temperature reached in its history.”
He said temperatures will cool down late on Saturday, which will bring more rainfall into the state.
“The showers will mainly be in the south-west of the state, and there will be isolated showers for the rest of the state,” he said.
