BAIRNSDALE combined agents yarded 1400 store cattle on Friday and well bred livestock continued to sell well.
Most of the yarding was weaner and yearling livestock.
Many of the cattle had their winter coats on, coming in to the market in true store condition but with the ability to bounce back.
There were the usual buyers present vying for steers and heifers to go onto grain and grass.
A feature line was the Hereford and Shorthorn pregnancy-tested-in-calf (PTIC) heifers and cows put up by the Brownlow family, The Camp, Bairnsdale. Ranging from first calving heifers to six-year-old cows, the consignment sold to $1530; to demand from breeders investing further in their cow and calf outfits and buyers intending to turn around the calves as weaners.
