There was a yarding of 2650 head at CQLX Gracemere on July 14 comprising of 1310 steers, 740 heifers, 490 cows, 35 cows and calves and 75 bulls.
The yarding was drawn mostly from local areas with a few cattle from north of Mackay also penned.
Quality in the older cattle was mixed however the weaners coming forward were very good quality throughout.
Once again there was a full field of buyers which helped improve competition from last sale and prices for young cattle showed a considerable improvement from the past two sales.
Slaughter steers 400-500kg made 310c/kg to average 268c, steers 300-400kg sold to 356c to top 295c, steers 200-300kg made 378c to average 341c, steers under 200kg sold to 372c to average 345c.
Slaughter cows topped 230c to average 209c, cows 400-450kg made 257c to average 198c, cows 320-400kg sold to 212c to average 171c, and those under 320kg topped 178c to average 130c.
Heavy heifers made 278c to average 259c, heifers 300-400kg sold to 290c to average 257c, heifers 200-300kg sold to 344c to average 277c, while heifers under 200kg made 326c to average 292c.
Cows and calves sold to $1500 to average $1200.
Bulls over 600kg made 247c to average 230c, bulls 450kg-600kg sold to 334c to average 298c.
