SproutX will launch its first accelerator program tonight (Thursday), where it will announce the successful applicants who will take part in the six-month program.
In a Shark Tank-styled event, the 11 participants will pitch their idea to a panel of three judges, one corporate player, one investor, and one farmer.
SproutX general manager Sam Trethewey said it was important to put a farmer on the judging panel.
“You usually only have investors on these sorts of panels, but we thought it was important to put a farmer on the panel who might be buying one of these products in the future,” Mr Trethewey said.
The participants will be given three minutes to pitch their product, in what Mr Trethewey said would be a competitive environment.
“The judges will be pretty sharp with their feedback, which is the whole point of the event,” he said.
He said there had so far been a big number and wide variety of RSVPs.
“We’ve had over 260 RSVPs, some from farming circles, some from startup circles, and some are investors,” he said.
“It’s going to be a really exciting night for not only SproutX, but the whole agtech industry.”
