JENNIE and Trevor Moore, Heathcote, are the lucky winners of the Premium Paton 1.5 Tonne Trail Feeder, as visitors of Stock & Land Sheep Week.
Mr and Ms Moore visited Koole Vale Merinos, Costerfield, on day four of the five-day event in early June, and entered the competition thinking they wouldn’t be in with a chance.
“I was really surprised. I’ve never won anything before,” Ms Moore said.
“I know the family at Koole Vale, but had never been to their property before, so when they mentioned they were having an open day, we asked if we could come along.”
Ms Moore said ironically, they only run a small hobby farm of about 20 Suffolk sheep, so are unsure at this point exactly what they’ll do with the feeder.
“We only run on 10 acres, and it’s just a hobby farm, so we’re not sure exactly what we’ll do with it, we’ll decide when it arrives,” she said.
She said despite this, she is ecstatic with the win.
“It was a really good event, and we are really excited with the win,” she said.
Stock & Land stud stock representative Justin Conlan said there was significant interest in the competition, with 385 paper and online entries.
“We were really happy with the number of entries, and they were very widespread across all of the different days and locations,” Mr Conlan said.
“I think it was a really good incentive to get more people interested and involved in the event.”
He said the competition wouldn’t have gone ahead without the support of Paton and all of the exhibitors.
“A big thanks goes to Nick Luxton, Paton, for his support, he’s been really pleased with the result, also to all of the exhibitors for promoting the competition,” he said.
“We’ll definitely look at doing something similar again next year.”
I think it was a really good incentive to get more people interested and involved in the event.
