Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea was celebrated in Alice in Wonderland style on Saturday in Cloncurry.
Dale Grobler hosted a Mad Hatter Party at the Leichhardt Hotel in honour of the nationwide event.
“We’re hoping to get 100 people here today to raise money for the Biggest Morning Tea organised by the Cancer Council,” Ms Grobler said.
“Because I’ve had breast cancer and I’ve used their services and a lot of other people use it.”
Ms Grobler, who is the manager of the Leichhardt Hotel spent six months putting the event together which is designed as a set from the famous Lewis Carroll novel.
Ms Grobler said guests were invited to wear a mad hat with judging later in the day by hotel owner Billie Telford.
“We’ve also got games that go on and there is pampering available, you can have your hair done or a massage or your make-up done,” she said.
“This will become an annual event.”
Ms Grobler thanked the girls at the hotel who worked all night to get the venue, the PO Hotel who supplied the food, Maria from Mad About Cupcakes in Mount Isa, Jennifer Crimeen who made the mad hatter’s cake, Karen Price of Priceless Pearls and Jennifer Remfrey from Lorraine Lea Linen who donated items for the raffle and of course her boss “Mrs T” who oversaw it all.
