MORE than 180 Angus breeders and others working in the beef industry have converged on Ballarat in Victoria for this year’s national Angus conference.
One of the first to speak today will be beef cattle genetics expert Dr Dan Moser, president of Angus Genetics Inc (AGI) and director of performance programs for the American Angus Association in Missouri.
Dr Moser comes from a family of seedstock producers and has taught courses in animal management, genetics and animal breeding, conducted applied research, advised undergraduate and graduate students, and coordinated university seedstock cattle herds for 20 years.
He will give delegates a rundown on the latest developments in genetic improvement technologies in American Angus.
Meat and Livestock Australia’s marketing guru Ben Thomas will also be up this morning, discussing just how sustainable current cattle prices are.
The program over the next two days boasts an impressive line-up of speakers from a diverse range of backgrounds.
Sessions will also cover topics in the areas of communication across the beef supply chain, the commercial supply chain, market technologies and how to grow an Angus business.
