Farmers are hoping a widespread rainfall event tipped for the end of the week comes to fruition to help recently planted crops.

EASTERN states grain producers are anxiously monitoring a cut-off low weather system moving down from north-western Western Australia this week likely to deliver good rainfall.

Gregor Heard is ACM's national grains industry reporter, based in Horsham, Victoria. He has a wealth of knowledge surrounding the cropping sector through his 15 years in the role.
