THE numbers of Cloncurry marchers were bolstered by a good turnout of school students and representatives across the community on Anzac Day.
Far North Queensland 51st Battalion Delta Company Warrant Officer Rick Leeman said during the service that recent commentators continue to express amazement at the turnout at Anzac services.
“Those who are surprised by this fact show that they understand very little about our national character and the way in which it comes to affect all who settle in this country, even those who have lived her for just a short while,” Warrant Officer Leeman said.
“We have enjoyed the benefits of the peace and easy existence which was purchased at the cost of many lives.”
