NINE Australian students have been awarded scholarships from Rural Bank to help kick-start their careers in the agribusiness sector.
This year’s recipients come from six different states, and include students of agricultural science, agribusiness, veterinary science, and more.
Rural Bank CEO and managing director Alexandra Gartmann said she was encouraged by the volume and quality of applications received.
“The future of Australian agriculture is absolutely dependent on the development of a new generation of rural leaders, and we’re firmly committed to supporting youth as they take the first steps in their journey,” Ms Gartmann said.
Recipients will receive financial support to the value of $5000 for the first year of their studies to contribute to costs of accommodation, course materials, equipment and tutoring.
Scholarship recipients include Alice Mitchell, Takone, Tas, who is studying a Bachelor of Veterinary Biology and Bachelor of Veterinary Science at Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga, NSW, Brendan Gray, Briagolong, who is studying a Bachelor of Agricultural Science at Charles Sturt University, Rhiannon Bennett, Barcaldine, Qld, who is studying a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) at Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Sarah Sutton, Manangatang, who is studying a Bachelor of Agricultural Science and Bachelor of Commerce at La Trobe University, Bundoora, Tristan Clarke, Bolgart, WA, who is studying a Bachelor of Agribusiness at Curtin University, Perth, WA, Victoria Kitschke, Mt Gambier, SA, who is studying a Bachelor of Veterinary Bioscience at the University of Adelaide, SA, Charlie Wells, Moree, NSW, who is studying a Bachelor of Agribusiness and Bachelor of Sustainable Agriculture at the University of Queensland, Josephine Coleman, Heyfield, who is studying a Bachelor of Agricultural Science at Charles Sturt University, and Arkie Pickering, Little Swanport, Tas, who is studying a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Bachelor of Veterinary Science at Charles Sturt University.
