A return to drier weather throughout central Victoria swelled up numbers at the Kyneton monthly store cattle on Wednesday.
Receiving a further 200 more the 600 cattle that were expected sales performed much better than was anticipated as steers prices held closely to recent district rates while heifer prices firmed and on occasions equally those of their sibling brothers.
The 800-head penning also offered a selection of joined and breeding females which met varied demand on the back of the dry local conditions.
Some sales were seen as being better than was anticipated. Others made their worth while those that needed special attention to carry them through the winter provided opportunities for those with the resources.
