University of Adelaide animal science graduate Bryony Tucker received the 2017 Ronald J Lienert Memorial scholarship at the SA Pig Day dinner last month.
During her undergraduate studies, Ms Tucker was an active member of the Campus Pig Club, she completed an Australian Pork Limited undergraduate placement award at Mallee Park Piggery, Port Vincent, and volunteered to assist other students and researchers with their trial work at the Roseworthy Piggery.
In her proposed honours research project, Ms Tucker will study the influence of gonadotropin-releasing hormone treatment during the period of maternal recognition of pregnancy on the ovarian function and fertility of first parity sows.
After completing some initial trial work on local sows at the Roseworthy Piggery, Ms Tucker will travel to Canada and join the pig research team at the University of Guelph, Ontario.
The scholarship is offered annually to a student enrolled in an honours program at the University of Adelaide’s Roseworthy Campus.
