*Total clearance of 149 bulls, sold to $19,000, av $7625
COMMERCIAL cattleman flocked to the Harbison family’s annual Dunoon Autumn Angus bull sale, where all 149 bulls sold to a top of $19,000 to average an impressive $7625.
Buyers of all descriptions picked their mark, as bulls sold from $4000 to $19,000 on two occasions.
Auctioneer Michael Glasser, GTSM, said the sale could have handled another 10 to 20 bulls on the day.
The first of the top bulls, Dunoon Louis L075, sold to NK Nichol and Company, Bathanga, Vic, for $19,000.
It had figures of a growth of +116, +3.4 IMF, and a +3.9 BW, by the Te Mania Gascoyne G333 sire.
The second of the top bulls sold via the phone to Onalim Nominees, Branswick, Vic, and was another Gascoyne son, with length, balance, style and weight all in a single package.
He was another low birth weight sire with a heavy grain fed index of +$159, +127 600 day growth, and +8.8 EMA.
Volume buyer and strong regular supporter Malcolm Davies, Greenwald Pastoral Company, Foster, Vic, averaged $7267 for 15 bulls to join his 2200 head cow herd to produce weaners.
Mr Davies said he recently sold 600, nine to ten month old calves at Mount Gambier, South Australia, for 440c/kg and 500 at the Koonwarra, Vic, sale for 400c/kg.
