The dates for 2018 Stock & Land Beef Week have been announced, and will be held slightly later than normal.
The event will commence on Monday, January 29, 2018, and will run for nine days up until Tuesday, February 6.
The event will be held slightly later than previous years, commencing on the Monday after the Australia Day long weekend.
Stock & Land Beef Week director Geoff Phillips said the dates had to be juggled around to avoid clashing with other events.
“We had a couple of challenges working out dates, we generally start earlier than the 29th, but with the Australia Day long weekend, we had to start a little bit later,” Mr Phillips said.
“We also had to avoid the South Australian beef field days, and bull sales, which are really jam packed during that time of year.”
He said they tried to juggle the days around so studs got a go at opening their gates on different days.
“We do juggle the dates around so that everybody gets a go at the start, middle and end,” he said.
“We try to keep the Saturday and Sunday around Melbourne to cater for the smaller hobby farmers.”
Day one will be held in southern New South Wales, day two in north-east Victoria, day three in north-west Victoria, day four in western Victoria and Mt Gambier, SA, day five in western Victoria, day six in northern Victoria, day seven in South Gippsland, and day eight in south-east Victoria.
