Return buyers underpinned a strong sale for the autumn Hicks Beef bull sale held on "Annandayle South", Holbrook on Thursday.
There was a complete clearance of the 43 bulls offered, which sold to $10,500 twice with sale average $5709.30.
Rick Foster, “Haven park”, Casterton, Victoria, returned to Hicks Beef for his replacement sires, purchasing a Red Angus at sale equal top price of $10,500, along with a second bull at $7500.
Mr Foster said his top choice had length and thickness, and was a smooth and soft bull.
“He will be joined to our heifers before mating with our cows,” Mr Foster said.
“We think he will be a great addition and continue to lift our production by breeding good females.”
Equal top price at $10,500 was paid by Womblebank Pastoral, “Womblebank”, Injune, QLD, operating through AuctionsPlus.
The company are also return clients, and purchased four bulls for average price $7875.
Their top priced selection was a Red Composite bull.
Hicks Beef co-principal Andrew Hicks was very happy with the result.
“It was a solid sale, we had old and a few new clients,” Mr Hicks said.
“We are breeding bulls for sale at commercially realistic values that perform in the paddock.”
The sale was conducted by Elders, Holbrook, with auctioneer Joe Wilks, taking the bids which was interfaced with AuctionsPlus.
